The Football, Cricket and Rugby grounds are running ever more events with ever larger crowds: sports, music, beer festivals and drone shows. We all want these venues to be successful but not at the expense of residents. It isn’t true that we knew it would be like this when we moved in as matches and events are attracting more cars than ever before.
The organisations responsible for sorting this out seem to have had their heads in the sand for the last 4 years. But our fantastic local police inspector is trying to make plans for next season already, and I have finally got a good conversation at Forest and I’ve put them in touch with the Mayor’s Office (who are responsible for transport and tourism in the future).
The County need to take a lead: they have promised to survey residents but not until after the election- do fill it in when it comes. One solution could be Event Day Permits for residents’ parking across the whole of West Bridgford. Please let me know if you have any views on this or have seen it work elsewhere.
